About

darcy4My name is D’Arcy Meloche, and I am a Horticultural Therapy Technician. I have been working in horticulture and related industries for the past 25 years. I have extensive experience in the fields of mental health and long-term care, creating and facilitating horticultural therapy programs for people of different age groups and physical and cognitive abilities.

The goal of my programs is to provide people with the opportunity to enjoy an active lifestyle and social interaction, to derive a feeling of importance and pride, and to develop an interest in horticulture. My background in plant culture enables me to select the most appropriate medium to introduce during activities, to stimulate as many of the five senses as possible.

I am also an independent small business owner and operator, specializing in eco-friendly garden, lawn, and property maintenance. My services include designing and planting garden beds, repairing and creating pathways, arbours, and fencing, and developing and creating ergonomic gardening implements for senior clients.

I have a Diploma in Horticulture from the University of Guelph, where I received practical training in important disciplines such as plant identification, greenhouse management, landscape design and construction, nursery management, and integrated pest management. I am also an active and longtime member of the Canadian Horticultural Therapy Association.

My ongoing education continues to this day with workshops, courses, practicums, and other methods of training, all with the goal of developing services that bring enjoyment to other people. This is my passion, and I feel blessed to be able to do what I do in horticulture and horticultural therapy.
